Gap Final Full Circle

Gap Spring Traverse

They say it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day. Because a day already perfect, cannot be ruined by a passing shower. I’d like to think that as the rain followed us through the desert, it was just trying to tell us that these were gonna be the best days. Filled with endless laughs and unable to be ruined. We’ve hiked long days, climbed until our fingers hurt, played games with only the light of our headlamps, cooked many meals for better or worse, and slept almost 70 nights in our sleeping bags. Our adventures have reiterated for me that life is what you make of it. You can be bogged down by the factors that make it challenging, or like Luke, you can think about the positives. Despite any amount of rain, wind, frigid temperatures, blisters, or backcountry meals gone wrong, it is no doubt that it has been the utmost privilege to spend this time, with these people, in all of these incredible places. HMI has not only given me experiences and memories that will last me a lifetime, it taught me that a good thing can never be ruined.

Your outlook on life is in your control, so choose to look at the positives, to laugh until your stomach hurts, and to leave your headlamp on for one more game before the day is over, even in a passing shower.
