Lodging Recommendations
Leadville is home to a variety of lodging establishments, from very basic to quietly elegant,
modern to historic. A good place to start your search is the Leadville Visitor Center’s listings of places to stay.
Families also tend to have great luck with AirBnB and VRBO. Below are some lodging options that we have used in the past and that we recommend:
Cabin/Home Rentals
- Big Buckle Mountain Homes: Run by a local couple, this agency manages a number of vacation rentals in downtown Leadville and the surroundings. The discount code “HMITEN” will get you 10% off!
- S.L.umber Yard at FREIGHT: Beautiful new cabins built on the property of a railroad depot-turned lumber yard-turned event space. Cabins are named for historical ladies of Leadville’s notorious red light district.
- Grand West Village Resort: In the woods just 4 miles north of HMI and northwest of downtown
Leadville. Clean, modern, comfortable cabins with fireplaces (1 to 6 bedrooms).
Hotels/Motels
- Timberline Motel: A newly renovated motel and loft space, downtown. Every room has a kitchenette. Hip, fresh, and always highly-reviewed!
- Delaware Hotel: Leadville’s historic old hotel, downtown. It has been remodeled but retains
historic touches like floors that are not level, and three stories with steep stairs. There is no elevator. Paranormal encounters are not uncommon! - Columbine Inn & Suites: A newer, two-story motel on the north edge of town and very clean. Breakfast comes with your room.
Bed & Breakfasts
- Colorado Trail House: A classic Victorian guesthouse in downtown Leadville with private rooms, a shared kitchen and living room, and a jacuzzi.
- The Mountain Hideaway Lodge: Another classic Victorian guesthouse downtown with private
rooms and a recently renovated kitchen. - The Majestic: A national historic landmark! This Victorian guesthouse has much of its original charm still preserved. Mere steps from Leadville’s finest pizzeria, High Mountain Pies.
