Isabella Whelan

Isabella is a Semester 39 alum and graduated from Colby College in May 2023. She majored in Global Studies with a concentration in Latin America and minored in Environmental Studies. She studied abroad in Chile and wrote an honors thesis about Indigenous rights and lithium mining in Chile for Colby’s Global Studies department. At Colby, she was involved with both the COOT and CCAK programs on campus. In her free time, she enjoyed hiking, skiing, running, and surfing around Maine! Eunice Gao

Eunice is a junior Environmental Studies Major and a potential Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies minor at Carleton. Eunice is a part of an A Capella group, a dance group, and spent the past summer working as an intern on Carleton’s Student Organic Farm. Frances Erlandson
Frances is a Semester 33 alum and graduated from Bennington College in 2020, with focus in poetry and architecture. She currently lives in Portland, OR, where she teaches upper elementary in a public Montessori school. Prior to moving to Portland, Frances spent two years in Green River, UT, a rural town of 800 people, running the afterschool program at the community center, subbing at the elementary school and working as a specialist at Epicenter, a nonprofit community design center. Lenny Lorenz
Lenny is originally from Philadelphia, PA and is currently a student at Colorado College. Lenny was a semester 43 alum and is currently a Southwest Studies major. She was also a winter start in January of 2022. In addition to academics Lenny is involved in Outdoor Education, and is an avid intramural inner tube water polo player. Catherine Hildebrand
Catherine is an alum of Summer Term 2019 and is now a junior at Northwestern University after transferring from the University of Michigan her freshman year. She is planning to major in Economics and minor in Business Institutions and Marketing. She currently has a marketing internship with Northwestern Athletics along with being a member of the volunteer club All Paws In. Hanna is a Semester 25 alum who attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated in 2017. Hanna studied Anthropology and History and competed on the women’s Division I rowing team at Penn. She also contributed to the student travel magazine and elected to study abroad in New Zealand and Sweden. Hanna has now traveled to 39 countries and spent several years living abroad. Annabel Resor is an alum of summer term 2019. Annabel is a rising junior at the University of Vermont pursuing a dual degree in environmental studies and business management with a concentration in accounting. Kayla is a Semester 46 alum and attended Cornell University for freshman year where she studied neurobiology and Spanish. She was on the club crew team, participated in outdoor odyssey and prison reform clubs. Jane Lovett
Jane is a Semester 44 and Sumer Term alum and now attends Scripps College, a part of the Claremont Colleges in California. She is a Junior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Anthropology. She is an orientation ambassador, a leader of the Claremont Colleges Prison Abolition Collective, works in the Pomona College maker space, and is interested in all things political organizing! Partnership with Prescott College
HMI has a formal partnership with Prescott College, a liberal arts college in Prescott, Arizona with a focus on sustainability and social justice. Prescott College guarantees admission to HMI alumni. Up to 16 credits can be awarded for an HMI experience, and HMI students, alumni, and staff receive a 20% discount off published tuition or an eligible merit scholarship, whichever is higher.
