Alex calls West Virginia his home, but has spent many adventurous nights under the stars of the Western sky. He met his wife, Libbey, at graduate school in Prescott College in Arizona. She brought him back to HMI where he has worked a variety of expeditions for the HMI Semester, Summer Term, and Gap programs since 2016. When not leading programs with HMI, Alex is the director of Appalachian Expeditions based in West Virginia.  He enjoys backpacking, mountain biking, rafting, and growing food in all his free time.
